Peninsula Co-op Gives Back
Peninsula Co-op was originally started in 1977 by a small group of Saanich Peninsula residents with a vision and a strong belief in the principles upon which all co-ops are based. As it has grown and evolved, its roots date back nearly 60 years, yet it remains a locally-focused Co-op with more than 100,000 members.
Throughout its history, Peninsula Co-op has shared its profits with their members. In fiscal 2018, Peninsula Co-op returned $6.3 million dollars back to its members.
“Just as the Saanich Peninsula residents supported us when we began, we too feel it’s important to give back and contribute positively to the communities in which we do business,” says Lindsay Gaudette, Peninsula Co-op Marketing & Community Relations Manager. Just last year, 300 different initiatives collectively benefited from over $500,000 invested right here on Vancouver Island, including $1,000 to Cool Aid.
“Sometimes the people in our community fall on hard times or just struggle from day to day, but it’s important to remember that they are still valuable neighbours who contribute to the fabric of our community,” adds Lindsay. They are people who deserve dignity and respect; and Cool Aid provides them with that, along with access to important resources they desperately need.
Peninsula Co-op strongly believes that when they give back to others in our communities, everyone benefits.
