Cool Aid Endowments have been established at the Victoria Foundation and the Vancouver Foundation, for those wanting to make a gift that keeps on giving in perpetuity, such as with a bequest or planned gift. The Endowments are carefully invested and the dividends support Cool Aid programs flexibly and forever, returning about 5% per year.

The two “Cool Aid Housing, Health, Shelter & Community Services Funds” support the work of the Victoria Cool Aid Society, whose mandate is to advocate for and provide emergency shelter, supported housing and community health services to adults who are vulnerable and marginalized in the Greater Victoria area. The Cool Aid Endowment Fund’s vision is to help end homelessness and improve the quality of life in the Capital Region by working in partnership with others to build a community where:

  • No one is forced to sleep on the street or go hungry.Street dog
  • Everyone who needs supportive housing is getting it.
  • Integrated health care service is provided to treat illness and promote wellness.
  • Integrated services are provided to those with mental health and addiction issues.

A special Pets In Need (Carl Young) Endowment has also been created at the Victoria Foundation, thanks to a special estate gift from the late Carl Young, in memory of his beloved dog Turbo, who passed away with Carl in a tragic car accident in March 2015. The Pets In Need Fund will be used to help with pet food, health care and other expenses for our clients’ pets in need.

Gifts of securities (stocks) are also accepted and are a terrific tax value for a donor or estate, and are processed through the Victoria Foundation. Donations from the USA can receive a US tax receipt when processed through the Friends of the Vancouver Foundation. Anonymous donations can also be received through both Foundations.
