Bruce Kilpatrick is the Executive Director of Communications + Marketing at the University of Victoria, where he has responsibility for strategic marketing, creative development, media relations and public affairs, internal communications and publications, internet strategies, and a department and unit implementation team. In addition to functioning as a senior advisor and university spokesperson, he was the project manager for the university’s major branding process in 2014 and 2015 and now directs its implementation. He joined UVic in 1994.
While at the university, Kilpatrick chaired the leadership portions of two United Way campus campaigns and has been a volunteer board member of the CFUV campus-community radio station for 20 years.
Prior to joining UVic he worked in communications and advisory roles for governments in British Columbia and Manitoba, and as a community and income assistance advocate, and a student ombudsperson in Victoria. He has been a board member, coordinator, and volunteer coach with youth sports organizations and was a co-founder and chair of his neighbourhood organization.
He has also directed and chaired a variety of volunteer organizations and campaigns.
Kilpatrick holds a degree in history with a specialization in Western Canadian urban history.
